I'm using my laptop in the sitting room of a neighbor my mom takes out for walks, and since I cannot really concentrate because my goal is not, actually, behaving like an asshole, I added up all the word count from the list of fics in my (soon to be posted) Fic in 2009 meme and guess what?

I wrote 208,645 words this year, at least. There are a few ficlets I didn't count because I didn't want to link to them, and of course there are all those bloody WsIP that never got finished or posted.

That's—well, I think it's kind of cool. Considering.

(Still no power supply. Fingers crossed it can actually be legally got back within the year. I assume if we do pay for it no technicians would be so cold-hearted as to make us enter the new year in the dark, yes? Until then, I'm abusing the mood stabilizers and possibly sleeping a lot. I also copied a few prompts from kradam_kiss, though it's been a long, long time since I last tried longhand. It takes so long to get so few thoughts down, gosh.)

My power's suspended. Again. Really thought I was safe for the remainder of my sister's Christmas hols, but apparently not. Apparently my father prioritizes Christmas dinner over paying the electricity bills.

I'm hoping he can fix it before tomorrow night, but he might not. If I'm not around, this is why. If I don't do something I'm supposed to do, this is why. I'll try my best not to kill myself or, worse, have a panic attack. I guess I'll just spend the next few days hanging on to my sister, as that is the only method I have to distract myself from crying.

Fantastic way to start the new year, isn't it?

Llegó la hora de hacer las listas de lo mejor de 2009. Esto es fácil: libros, pelis y series, cinco de cada una. Son las cosas que he descubierto este año, no las que han salido este año (que como ya sabéis, a mí me tira más lo antiguo y ni he visto 5 series de 2009 ni he leído 5 libros).

OMG LOOK WHAT I GOT FOR YULETIDE LOOK LOOK.

Have Their Moment (In My Life) is a subtle, sweet, compelling Wild Child story about Kate and Poppy's friendship and the way it shifts to become what they both really want it to be. The author managed to incorporate a few elements I mentioned in my request—like rain or bathtub sex (which is imperfect and hot and brilliant)—without them seeming forced at all. The story's just so seamless and it feels so real and it is exactly what I wanted and totally failed to explain in my request.

I feel a little sorry for my author because this is such a small fandom and it's entirely possible nobody but me will read this (guys! prove me wrong!) and it's such a shame because it's absolutely perfect. <333

And I also got a treat! Anyone Lived In A Pretty Town, Disney RPF, Demi Lovato/Taylor Swift, which is something like the beginning of a really cool high school AU. Taylor is super lovely in it.

I haven't read much yet, though there are quite a few stories I can already predict I'll be reccing (and have a guess as to who wrote them, ahem), but I'm going to finish my already extremely late jb_ficexchange assignment first.

Anyway. My yuletide experience? Total rollercoaster. This is what I get for leaving things till the last minute. My main story was a joy to write, though I definitely wish I'd got started on it earlier, sigh. My pinch hit was like pulling teeth, in a way—it was lots of fun to write, but it was for a relatively big fandom I'd never written for before and I'm pretty into and more than a little intimidated by, which added an extra layer of "oh my god why did I pick up a [fandom redacted] pinch hit, I could have done it for NYRs instead and actually have time to flesh it out and not freak out about it". Needless to say, the anonymity has been a sanity-saver so far. I'm still considering the possibility of orphaning it after reveal and profusely apologizing to my recipient, though. And then I wrote an extra last-minute pinch hit. Which is extremely visible and proves stats right.

So, well—guess one and you get a ficlet of your choice (or just bragging rights, whichever you prefer). Guess two and I'll write an NYR for the Madness prompt of your choosing. Guess all three and I'll assume you're annemaris in disguise.

And now I'm going to have something to eat before I faint.

Hola!!!

Aunque pudiera parecer lo contrario, sigo viva! Lo cual es un milagro después de los últimos meses en los que no he parado (y si lo he hecho ya no tenía ganas de nada).  Pero ahora que ya tengo vacaciones y que voy a poder estar tranquilas, tengo varios propósitos para estos días:

1- Cambiar el header del lj. Que ya va siendo hora, aunque precisamente ahora que toca despedir al Doctor me da más penita que nunca. Pero estoy segura de que podemos encajar al Doctor y a la Navidad... :P

2- Actualizar con los picspams de los últimos viajes. Que toca poner del tour por centroeuropa, del roadtrip por Canadá y de lo poquito que pude ver de México DF cuando me tuvieron "secuestrada" por allí.

3- Ponerme al día con todas las series y terminar de prepararme para la despedida de Tennant.

Pues hala, ya tengo tarea para los próximos días. Espero poder tener el lj actualizado durante estas fiestas.

I am so busy with ficathons right now—I swear last year I signed up for a similar number and didn't require so many extensions. On top of that, I snatched up a pinch hit because the prompt was very possibly my favouritest in all of the DYW letters I read (which were many and varied), and now it's freaking me out because omg, I cannot do it justice. I just made myself some French toast and spent a couple of minutes pacing the kitchen going, "Jesus fuck, why did I pick up a [fandom redacted] pinch hit, why?" and have since realized the best way to write it is Lego-style. Which is a term that probably only makes sense to me, but I don't know if there's an actual word for it, so whatever.

So, anyway, that's why I haven't updated much lately.

Christmas feels so odd this year. So not Christmassy. My parents are presumably extra irritable because they can't afford to get me and my sister any substantial gifts (it... really doesn't bother me, surprisingly), my father's behaving like an asshole and my sister's all moodswingy for some reason, and it's really stressing me out. And we don't even have the tree up yet. Not that the tree we put up every year is at all remarkable, but you know. It helps. I don't want to fall back on my practically-addicted-to-anxiolytics habit, so this translates into an almost constant stomachache and occasional nausea and the realisation that maybe now I am not only desperate to get out of here, but actually ready for it. Need to make that happen. Fuck the past three years, clearly they were a necessary lull in order for me to line up my thoughts.

Seriously, though, it's like every thirty minutes I hear yelling or my sister crying from the living room and feel sick to my stomach. Probably better not to dwell, though.

Since it's the time for Yuletide Madness, my Dear Writer letter is here; I requested Mercy, Wild Child, AI8 RPF and Disney RPF, but if you want to write something for a tiny fandom we share, feel free to put me in as the recipient!
